bamcal-ing away.

i'm happy with how on the ball i've been with this month's bamcal squares.
especially seeing as how i haven't even blogged about them the last 2 months!



i've also been quite good getting them all together and into blankety form...



it's at a pretty good lap blanket size at the moment and i'm only half way through! can't wait until it's finished!

are you working on any slow-burn projects at the moment? or maybe you're even joining in with the bamcal?

kicking goals

last friday, i set myself a few goals to have done as soon as humanly possible.
well i've got some goals met people!
first up...



my tenth beanie festival beanie, is done and dusted! well i still haven't sewn the ends in but pish! later!
and also...



i'm well over halfway through my second bamcal square for the month! in fact, this one only needs a row of single crochet and it's done! i think i can get this one finished and hopefully the last as well.
that means tomorrow i'll get to open up and play with my delicious package of cottons!

what have you been achieving lately?

woah! quickest month ever? i think so!

i think i did pretty well on my goals for april. i got two more cupboards painted in the kitchen (bb helped, which was lovely), i got the pictures hung AND i got my bamcal squares done too!
i've only just realised that i haven't blogged them... good work there nicole!

i didn't quite get to that quilt that i was planning, due to the bank wanting me to pay off my credit card. how rude! i really need to stop forgetting about the whole bills thing, sometimes i am quite unorganised!

but what about may?
in may, i'd like to get the final two cupboards in my kitchen painted. fingers crossed i have a weekend or two off to get them done :D

i've also got the may bamcal to do, and i'm thinking of ordering some more cotton to make some more wash cloths.

i have also promised bb a knitted jumper. big words for someone who hasn't ever actually knitted a garment before... ho hum!

i've also got two beanies to get finished, and maybe i'll make a skirt too! there was a skirt in the lisette pattern, maybe i'll make that one!

oh and that quilt i was banging on about, yeah maybe i'll get to that too ha ha!

march blocks.

i got started on these blocks relatively quickly, refreshing the bamcal page obsessively until the new patterns were posted on the 1st of march.
it just took me a little while to get them all finished. well actually, it took me a while to get nice photos of them...




now i just need to get them joined onto my growing blankie...

but not today though, i had my wisdom teeth removed this morning, so i'm on relaxation duties for the rest of the day. eating sorbet, drinking lots of water, watching copious amounts of tv and doing some nice slow granny striping!

once again, i've managed to get my bamcal squares done at the very start of the month.
i think my quick hooking is to do with the excitement of the patterns being released at the very start of the month, it's a bit like christmas morning, logging onto ravelry to see if they've been released and what they are. might be just me though...

i was pretty pleased with myself for getting these ones done. they all presented a bit of a challenge as they all had something a little bit different to them. i learned some new things!



they still all need to be blocked out, they're all looking a bit wonky...

and i think i might start putting them together soon too! if i wait until they're all done in december, it'll probably seem like way to big a job and they'll just sit in piles forever!
just have to work out how i'm going to join them...

phew! what a week it has been for me! since my last post, i've worked almost every day, so not too much time for blogging at all!
i had a package arrive the day after my last post...




full to the brim with some beautiful wool for the crochet-a-long i'd joined in with.

naturally, i got to work straight away. i managed to get all 3 blocks done within the week and after putting it off for while, got them blocked out too.




i blocked them out to 9" squares. they're a bit smaller because i'm using an 8ply wool instead of the recommended 10 ply. i've also messed around with the pattern a little, making the 6" square a bit bigger. i think i'll do this with all of the 6" squares, so that i can have a 6x6 square layout at the end, no worrying about complex sizing of the squares.
i also took a bit of extra time and did a final round of single crochet around the outside of all of the squares, to make joining them together that much easier.

i'm very excited for it to be february now, bring on the next 3 squares!

now i'm going to kick back and have a bit of a relax, i have the next two days off work!
