pompom.

while one day i might write a post about fluffy balls of wool, today, i'm writing about pompom the magazine!
i'd heard a bit about this magazine, on different blogs, and on the suzy hausfrau podcast... so when i was purchasing a little something for myself and a friend from here, i couldn't help but throw a couple of issues into the basket too!

they arrived yesterday and i can NOT wait to get stuck into reading them!
it's only a relatively small magazine (between a4 and a5 size i think...) but it seems to be chock full of content! LOADS of knitting patterns, articles about products and i'm pretty sure i saw a recipe or two in there as well!
there's also the small fact, that it looks super pretty too! well set out and beautiful to read!

i'll definitely be taking one along to work with me to read in my lunch break!

have you read pompom magazine? what did you think?

my creative space.

this week, has been ALL about the hexies this week!
well since the start of the month anyway...

i've been posting about my progress over on instagram, using the hashtag #gettinghexyinfebsy
it's a little lame, but i also kind of love it!

here was my photo from the first...

total for the day - 23.

the second's progress...

287 hexies cut out.

the photo from the third...

total for the day - 16.

the fourth...

total for the day - 34.

and the fifth, last night...

total - 31.
that's a total of 104 for the last 5 days! i'm pretty happy with that!
hopefully i can keep up the momentum for the rest of the month! and i'm hoping to get the rest of the fabric i've been stockpiling cut up and sewn up too!

it should be a productive month!

what's happening in your creative space this week? hoping to link up with kirsty today too?

green love.

despite having another lazy garden week, looking around, there's plenty of new growth happening...
there's LOTS of berries happening on my raspberry bush.

after i took this photo, i ate about 3 of these, they were DELICIOUS!

there's also new growth happening on the hydrangea i posted about back here...

there was SOME leaf growth after that initial photo, but then, nada!
i don't think i quite got enough water to it though as what grew died off somewhat... oh well, at least there's some fresh leaves happening!

there's also new growth happening on this massacred strawberry plant.

it got the living daylights eaten out of it on new years day by a pesky possum but it is slowly making a comeback thankfully!

and finally, this passionfruit, has some new growth too!

it was looking a little worse for wear after i disrupted it by moving it out of it's cozy planter box home and into the ground, growing along the fence. and then SUPER worse for wear after it was disrupted again when our stupid neighbour tore down our fence to replace it with no prior warning!
luckily, it seems to be coming good again!

what's growing in your patch this week? any new leaves popping out?

patching.

over the last week of january, i got my knit on, and managed to turn this...

into these...

for post a patch.
they're super quick and easy to knit up, i averaged one a night! and the hardest part, was sewing in the ends!

i'll be posting them off today, and then sizing up which balls in my stash and destined to become patches next! after i get to sewing some more hexies up that is...

do you knit? or crochet? would you like to make some patches too?

edit: it added another 46g to my stash busting total too! yahooooo!

meal planning monday.

last week's meal plan, didn't go exactly to plan...
we spent the first part of the week eating leftovers from our australia day bbq... and then bb ended up catching up with a friend for dinner, bringing leftovers home for me, which we think made us both sick!

hopefully all is good in the coming week though...

this week's plan, is looking similar to last week's, in that i'm hoping to make lamb biryani for dinner tonight...

tomorrow night, i'll grab some bolognaise out of the freezer and cook up some pasta. easy. peasy.

wednesday night, maybe i'll try for those pork buns again huh?

thursday night, i'll make these lamb chops. i've got some chops in the freezer, and a bunch of little taters from mum's garden. i think this will go super well with a big whack of rocket salad on the side too! perfecto!

friday night, i'll be a slow-cooking. tex mex beef i think... and i'll whip up some tortillas before work to go with them. yep.

saturday night, i'm thinking maybe pizzas. they never happened last week after being sick...

and finally, sunday... roast chicken? sounds good!

i've given away trying to plan for lunches... despite my best intentions, i just can't quite plan for them properly... i think they need to be a bit more flexible ha ha!

what are you eating this week? do you plan lunches for the week? or just dinners? or neither?

little lovelies.

every week, i try and share a little list of lovely things that have happened throughout the week in my neck of the woods, to try and keep myself looking on the bright side of things.

this week, i've lured a friend to the darkside.

and by darkside, i mean instagram.

i put my newly painted table to good use.

after having all of the food on there, there's a few marks and things on the finish, but not too bad considering!

this was by far the thing that put the biggest smile on my face...

my cert iv is officially finito and i am officially qualified!
it makes no difference to my job or anything, i just officially know what i'm doing now i guess...

and this little mutant strawb,

he made me smile because well, he looks cool, but he was also SUPER delicious!

what's been making you smile this week? any delicious fruit?

february.

unfortunately, my new frankie diary doesn't have space in it to write monthly goal lists like it did last year... but that doesn't mean i won't keep writing them!

this month, i'm trying to keep things simple, so i don't get too overwhelmed.

so my only two goals for this month are...
*get running - my body is craving it, and this is definitely a craving i can give into.
*get hexy-ing - i've got quite a bit of fabric, ready to cut up and stitch up and i haven't touched anything to do with hexies for months and MONTHS!

nice and simple huh?

what are your plans for the month ahead? setting any goals for yourself?
